About Course

This course is Part 2 of our Financial Literacy series that sets the stage for teens to understand the basics of earning and managing money to achieve personal goals, leading to early financial independence. Learners will explore ways to earn and make money by applying their skills to create value, including through entrepreneurship. This module also introduces the basics of earning, budgeting, planning, borrowing, credit, spending and saving Money in order to effectively manage their money by making smart money decisions. Through relatable examples and engaging activities, participants will learn key money terms and concepts like income, expenses, savings, taxes, interest and investments. At Youthversity, we believe that early financial literacy is critical to empowering youths to discover their natural talents and unlock their potential.

• Discovering personal strengths and interests • Turning hobbies into side hustles • Intro to value creation (solving problems, meeting needs)

Lesson 3: Exploring Entrepreneurial Opportunities
• What is entrepreneurship? Why start young? • Simple business models for teens (products, services, content) • Real-life teen entrepreneur case studies

Lesson 4: Understanding Your Paycheck
• Key terms: gross vs. net income, deductions, taxes • Reading a sample paycheck • Why taxes exist and what they pay for

Lesson 5: Budgeting Basics for Teens
• What is a budget and why it matters • Income vs. expenses, wants vs. needs • 50/30/20 rule or teen-friendly version

Lesson 6: Planning, Borrowing & Credit
• What is borrowing? When is it wise vs. risky? • Credit vs. debit • Building credit early & credit score basics

Lesson 7: Saving with Purpose
• The power of saving early (compound interest intro) • Saving jars and digital tools • Emergency funds and short/long-term goals
